An Oak Hill man has been arrested and charged with twelve felony counts.  Sheriff Steve Kessler released the following information concerning this arrest:
On December 22, 2009 the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from officials at the Fayette County National Bank concerning a former employee of that institution who was suspected of embezzling funds during his employment there.  The Detective Bureau of the Sheriff's Office was assigned to conduct an investigation into these allegations.  As a result of this investigation charges were filed earlier today against Jeremiah Raymond Perdue, age 30, of Oak Hill.  Perdue was charged with one count of embezzlement and eleven counts of falsifying bank or account records.  Following his arrest earlier this afternoon he was arraigned in the Magistrate Court of Fayette County and was remanded to the Southern Regional Jail in lieu of a $50,000.00 bond.  Sheriff Kessler stressed that this pattern of theft was detected by officials at the Fayette County National Bank who then promptly notified law enforcement officials of these thefts.  "The staff of the Fayette County National Bank is very diligent in protecting their customers and the reputation of their bank," said Sheriff Kessler.  "Bank officials worked closely with our Detectives to provide us with all of the information needed to substantiate these allegations and file these criminal charges."  He went on to add that Perdue was not a long-term employee of the Fayette County National Bank and had only worked there a short time when these thefts were discovered.

A Fayette County woman has been arrested in connection with a vehicle fire in the Prudence area of Fayette County. Sheriff Steve Kessler provided the following information concerning this incident:
At approximately 11:08 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2010 notification was received through the Fayette County 911Center of a vehicle fire on Phillips Road in the Prudence area of FayetteCounty.  The Oak Hill Fire Department responded to the scene but could not locate this reported fire.  At approximately 2:17am on Thursday, January 21, 2010 an anonymous individual contacted the Fayette County 911 Center and requested to speak to a law enforcement officer about this vehicle fire that was reported earlier.  Deputy W.K. Willis spoke with the  caller and received information that a female indentified as Cindy Canaday had used a "Molatov Coctail" to set fire to a vehicle belonging to Linda Dalton and further reported that this fire had extinguished itself prior to the arrival of the Fire Department at the scene.  Deputy Willis went to the Prudence Road area where he was able to locate a Buick passenger car that appeared to have slight fire damage to it.  He noted the strong smell of some type of flammable liquid at the scene and the remains of a melted plastic container.  Upon speaking with the victim he determined that this fire may have been started as retaliation for a criminal complaint that the victim had filed againste an individual indentified as Jason Canaday.  Deputy Willis then went to the residence of Cindy Canaday where he obtained a confession from her as to her involvement in this crime. She admitted she had poured gasoline into a plastic bottle, inserted a wick into the bottle, lit this device and thrown it against Ms. Dalton's vehicle.  Cindy Canaday, age 27, of Prudence Road was arrested and charged with Third Degree Arson and the Criminal Use of  a Destructive or Explosive Material.  She was arraigned in the Magistrate Court of Fayette County and was released on a $10,000.00 bond.  This incident remains under investigation by Deputy W.K. Willis Willis of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.
